Global Urbanites Network is a platform for our members to manage existing connections while expanding their network. It is critical that each member use this platform in a manner that is acceptable to other members and our site administrators. While we encourage our members to communicate and connect with each other, we felt it necessary to create the following Rules & Regulations as a guide to using our site.

Connections

Connections are critical to maintaining and expanding your network with your contacts throughout the world. Our database of existing members is searchable through the Directory page. When deciding whether to send or accept a connection requests, please consider the following:

Sending Connection Requests. Connection request should only be sent to other members that you know or that you have already communicated with through the site our elsewhere. Do not connect or send messages to people you do not know, unless you have a special reason to do so, which should be stated in the personalized message box accompanying the connection request.
Accepting Connection Requests. Your network should consist of only members that you know or are otherwise connected with. Accepting connection requests from members that you do not know will lessen the quality of your network.
Declining Connection Requests. If you receive unsolicited and unwelcome connection requests, please decline the request and notify the GUN Webmaster.
Termination of Your Account. If you send unsolicited connection requests, you will be at risk for termination of your account. We consistently monitor the number of declined requests associated with our member’s accounts.

Communication

We have provided the Message Center and the Forum as a means of communicating with other members. These tools should be use to communicate regarding various topics, including Social, Business and Travel. Members are strictly prohibited from using these tools to send unsolicited sales materials, messages or otherwise objectionable messages or threads.

Please consider the following when communicating with other members either through the Forum or Message Center:

General Rule: Use common sense
Intrusive, over-bearing or inappropriate sales-oriented or other purely commercial threads and messages are unacceptable
Please use English only in the Forum
Refrain from personal attacks, opinions or other discussions regarding another member in the public Forum
No offensive language or topics are permitted at any time
We reserve the right to remove threads and/or terminate the accounts of members who do not follow our policies
Do not upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, “junk mail,” “spam,” “chain letters,” “pyramid schemes,” or any other form of solicitation
We do not assume the liability or guaranty the accuracy of any content in individual postings or messages

Your Profile

Your profile is viewable by all members whether or not they are in your network. Please use discretion when creating and maintaining your profile. You may not falsely state, impersonate, or otherwise misrepresent your identity, including but not limited to the use of a pseudonym, or misrepresenting your current or previous positions and qualifications, or your affiliations with a person or entity, past or present. We ask that you consider the following guidelines:

Include only factual information in your profile
Your picture may be included in your profile. We do, however, reserve the right to delete offensive pictures and/or other graphics uploaded in your profile.
Profiles without information dilute our network and are subject to termination

Publication/Events

We are committed to protecting the privacy of our members. Members are strictly prohibited from publishing any content from this site. We will immediately terminate the account of any member publishing content or otherwise using information obtained on the site for improper purposes. Unauthorized use of our logo or tradename for promotional purposes is strictly prohibited. We expressly disclaim any liability for any events promoted by our members.
